Drive Safely
By now you’ve probably heard of Oprah’s “Don’t Text and Drive” campaign. Now there’s a bunch of apps to make it easier to resist the temptation of texting while behind the wheel.
One of our favorites is DriveSafe.ly, a free app available for Android, iPhone and Blackberry (Windows phone coming soon). The app transcribes texts and emails aloud without the driver needing to pick up the phone. You even have the option to customize an auto-response to the sender to let them know you’re driving and will respond when it’s safe to do so.
If you don’t want to go through the effort of downloading yet another app, check your phone manufacturer’s settings to see if there is a similar feature available for your phone. For example some Android phones have the option to send a quick sentence reply letting callers know that you’re unavailable to talk. Sure these tips could save money by avoiding costly accidents, but more importantly they save your most valuable assets – you and your family. Drive Safely!
